Welcome to China Study Tour Website

Welcome to the website of “China Study Tour: October, 2006.” The tour was organized by the Planning Research Center of the University of Sydney. Professor Edward J Blakely gave the lead. The purpose of the tour was to study the development trend along the Yangtze River in China as well as to observe the Regional Planning in China. The team has comprised of 18 members and started their journey from Shanghai and ended at Nanjing. They have visited a number of cities and development zones along the Yangtze River namely Shanghai CBD, Pudong, Yangpu District, Kunshan, Zhouzhuang, Suzhou, Wuxi, Changzhou and Nanjing. The team had their trip to the planning institutes and the planning exhibition halls of almost in every city. They saw the planning instruments, the strategies, a good number of public and private projects and the historic sites as well. Moreover the team has attended some seminars with city leaders and has discussed various planning issues as well as exchanged their ideas and views. The itinerary of the tour has been included in this website. Also the bios of the team members are included here. The photographs of different events will have been gradually added in this website. The authors are inviting the team members to participate here by adding their experiences and views about the tour. They are invited to add interesting photographs and any comments as well. The visitors are also welcomed to share their views and any comments.
